Sangeet Piyasi - Testimonials Sangeet Piyasi's thirst for music is unquenchable. Its endeavour has been applauded by many maestros in the field of Hindustani Classical music. Their blessings is Sangeet Piyasi's strength and fuel for its future ventures and activities. Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan Sangeet Piyasi is doing a fantastic job by organizing these musical concerts, seminars and training programs in the field of Hindustani Classical Music. I would like to thank its founder Pandit Samar Saha and all its members and students for carrying out such a work with great joy and enthusiasm for so many years. Pandit Sachhidananda Goswami We all know that Sangeet Piyasi is organizing and carrying out musical activities for quite sometime now with complete dedication. Sangeet Piyasi's students have performed and participated in various musical concerts and have earned respect and reverence for this organization. Sangeet Piyasi's endeavour of training and teaching young and budding talents in the field of Hindustani Classical music is exemplary. Pandit Kishan Maharaj Pandit Kishan Maharaj has been associated with Sangeet Piyasi Since its inception. The logo of Sangeet Piyasi has been designed by him. During 2005 8 day long mega festival members of Sangeet Piyasi and renowned musicians of Kolkata paid their tribute to this great maestro through "Bahu Pujan". It was first done to Pandit Ram Sahai ji who is considered as the founder of Benaras Gharana in Tabla. "Bahu Pujan" when translated in English means "worshipping the hands". During felicitation several great musicians worshipped the hands of Tabla Maestro Pandit Kishan Maharaj ji. After the felicitation program this is what the great Maestro of Benaras gharana said: " I am just speechless after the love and respect that you have given me. The city of Kolkata has always been a great place for musicians because of its love towards music. Today I could hardly hold my tears back......I don't know how to thank you all for loving me so much. Today is one of the happiest moments of my life." Pandit Vijay Kichlu I consider myself very fortunate that I have been associated with Sangeet Piyasi from the first day of its musical journey. I feel sheer pleasure in taking part in its vast and varied musical activities. On a rare occasion I got a chance to listen to Natu Babu's (Pandit Krishna Kumar Gangully) beautiful Tabla recital at Sangeet Research academy, who was the inspiration behind the formation of Sangeet Piyasi. He was then 80 to 82 years old I think and at such a great age he played for about three and half hours in front of a packed up audience. The experience was simply mesmerizing. There are many organization in Kolkata which organize musical concerts. We must remember that the most important point is not what the organization is doing but, how it is doing it. Sangeet Piyasi's programs are very interesting and attractive, whether, it is a program of young budding artists or a program by talented children. This is really a commendable job. Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri I knew Natu Babu (Pandit Krishna Kumar Ganguly) from my childhood. He always inspired me. Sangeet Piyasi has done a commendable job by organizing such a mega event(2005, 8 day long mega festival) in the memory of Pandit Krishna Kumar Gangully. I would like to thank Samar Saha and all the members of Sangeet Piyasi on this occasion for doing such a great job. |
